Since launching Viox Vitality, I’ve had several people ask me how I did it, and what products and resources I use for my blog. In this post, I’m going to go through what tools I’ve selected for Viox Vitality, in addition to why I stand behind it.
**Disclosures: Some of these are affiliate links which means if you make a purchase or sign up by clicking the link I provided, I will get commission at no additional cost to you. I assure you that I have only included things that I can confidently and highly recommend.
First of all, web hosting is seriously so important in the blogging world. If you’re ever wanting to monetize your blog to make any type of income, you need to be self-hosted. Options like Wix and Squarespace are so easy to use, but they come with a lot of restrictions. Self hosting your blog will give you the freedom you need to customize your site and monetize your blog the way you see fit. For web hosting I use Siteground, and it is one of the best blogging resources I’ve selected. I chose Siteground because of their exceptional customer reviews on their service and help. I have the basic wordpress package, and it came with so many features. It came with wordpress already installed, free SSL, and email addresses with your domain! The customer service I’ve experienced has been amazing and helpful. Here is my affiliate link to start your blogging journey with siteground!
Themes and Design
I purchased the Mackenzie theme from Pish and Posh designs, and Viox Vitality currently features that sleek and feminine design. A huge bonus to purchasing a theme instead of going with a free theme is that not many people have it. Additionally, it comes with the responsive genesis framework, AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! This was seriously my saving grace, and a huge benefit in this blogging resource. The installation instructions provided by Pish and Posh Designs saved me hours of trial and error as a brand new blogger, and I was able to concentrate on content right away! Here is my affiliate link to get your chic and sleek theme, or any other design element you want to implement!
Email and Newsletter
Staying in contact with your readers and building an email list is huge in driving traffic to your blog. Currently, I’m using Mailchimp. It’s free until you reach a certain amount of subscribers, and I am ALL about free things!
Social media promotion is probably one of the biggest blogging resources your can utilize. I promote my blog on the following platforms:
Viox Vitality has its own Facebook Page. Visit it by clicking here! My blog posts automatically post to my Facebook page. This allows my friends, family, and other Facebook followers can view the link to my blog on Facebook, which consequently drives traffic to my blog!
I actually converted my personal Instagram account into a business account. I didn’t want to start over when it came to accruing followers; also as a lifestyle/mom blogger, the content of my posts wouldn’t change much. Visit Instagram settings to convert your personal account to a business account, and it only takes a second! I get a lot of traffic from Instagram. Be sure to post frequently!
Pinterest is one of the newest things I’ve been doing, and it has been extremely rewarding! I’ve had a personal Pinterest account for years, and like Instagram, I just converted my personal profile into a business account. Enabling rich pins took me a while to figure out, but it is actually a pretty quick and simple process. This makes it possible for your pins to link back to your blog which will, as a result, drive traffic to your blog and develop an audience.
This is an everchanging and growing list. Your growing blog may require other tools, or there may be other options that are a better fit for you and your website. Comment below to let me know which ones work for you, and which blogging resources you think deserve to be added to this list!
